Quit Smoking Advice
These clips are from the BBC: Horizon documentary series entitled “We Love Cigarettes”. The advice Allen Carr gives is pretty good, it convinced me (a 5 year smoker) to quit cold turkey. It has been a couple months now and I’m still going strong.
Update:
It has been over one year since my last cigarette and I have never been tempted to look back. I really hope this simple advice has helped someone else.

Acupuncture Phoenix | Scottsdale Arizona Quit Smoking Chinese Medicine
http://www.suddenlyslimmer.com/html/spa_facials.asp?CategoryID=55&id=3 What Does the Treatment Involve?
The acupuncture program for smoking cessation at the Suddenly Slimmer Wellness Center (which offers Acupuncture & Natural medicine) consists of five visits. Before your first appointment, you are sent an extensive questionnaire that gathers information about your smoking history and health background. The form ists in identifying the behaviors, habits and triggers that lead to smoking. Some are social smokers, some smoke for pleasure, some smoke alone or for emotional reasons or when stressed. Nicotine is a powerful mood-altering chemical that can be sedating or stimulating, depending on the individual. A few examples of triggers for smoking are:
Smoking when on the phone
Smoking when angry, upset, sad or lonely
Smoking when drinking coffee or alcohol
At the first appointment, your questionnaire is reviewed and discussed, and a physical exam including blood pressure, lung exam, and methods from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) such as taking the pulse and observing the tongue are employed. The purpose of this interview is to determine the Chinese medical diagnosis for you and the individualized treatment you will receive. Taking into account each person’s unique smoking habits and physical and emotional make-up, every patient’s acupuncture treatment is tailor-made and designed for him or her. No two people are treated exactly the same. At this session, you learn to identify your particular triggers for smoking and how to avoid them. Acupuncture can reduce the cravings and lessen the withdrawal symptoms ociated you’re your efforts to quit smoking. Since the first month of quitting is probably the most difficult, the acupuncture program can ease you through this time. The first appointment is geared toward preparing you to become a nonsmoker; it does not include an acupuncture treatment. The next four sessions are acupuncture treatments to help you stop smoking. Up to the night before the first acupuncture treatment, you may smoke your last cigarette ever. From that point on, you will be a nonsmoker. The four acupuncture treatments for your quit smoking program are spaced out over three to four weeks, usually two treatments the first week, and then based on your individual needs. The treatments focus on any physical or emotional withdrawal symptoms that may arise, and also aid in relaxation. Of course, if you are having difficulty quitting, the program may be modified to fit your needs.

Does It Just Involve the Ear or Are Other Points Involved?
There are no “magic” acupuncture points for smoking cessation. Each patient is custom-treated according to his or her specific and unique diagnosis. Usually a combination of body acupuncture points and points on the ear are used. After the needles are inserted, you will relax for about 30 minutes.

Are Any Other Techniques Used Between Sessions?
Often you are prescribed herbs or supplements to control cravings or withdrawal symptoms. Exercise is encouraged and dietary recommendations are given (foods to avoid and foods to be included during the withdrawal phase). Sometimes a small metal pellet is tacked onto a specific point on the ear to reduce cravings.

How Does It Compare to Other Methods?
Because the acupuncture smoking termination program is individualized, it is often successful for those who have been unable to stop smoking through other methods. Often, our patients may have tried Nicorette gum, the nicotine patch or some type of organized program. If the individual sticks with it, the acupuncture quitting program can lead to permanent cessation.

How Much Does the Program Cost?
The total cost of the program is $495.00, which includes the initial consultation and four acupuncture treatments. This package price is payable at your first visit. The herbs, which are prescribed on an individual basis, range in cost from $6.50 to $18.00 each. Our acupuncture program to help you quit smoking will only be effective if you meet us halfway. Acupuncture will not “do it” for you. You need to have a genuine desire to quit smoking. It’s very important to enlist the support of friends and family. Everyone will respond to acupuncture and quitting smoking differently. Some may sail through the process with little or no problems, while others may have a harder time with withdrawal. Be ured that acupuncture can reduce the stress and difficulty of quitting smoking, and can aid you in your decision to quit smoking. We support you in your efforts to begin a healthy and smoke-free life!

Is there a stop smoking hypnosis seminar in orlando ?
I think the man’s name is Gorygan or something like that, stop smoking, weight loss
I live in Orlando and have been to a stop smoking seminar at the Holiday Inn in Altamonte Springs by the I-4 exit. I don't know if Gorygan was the guy that did it or not but I got the add out of the Orlando Sentinal. It was very good but the only problem is once you leave your ok for a day or so but after that you really start getting urges again. I found that a self hypnosis script that I could record my self reading the script and then listen to it really helped. I put it on everynight before I went to sleep for about a month. I've been smoke free for almost 2 years now.
How do I get my boyfriend to stop smoking weed?
When I started dating my boyfriend I didn't know he smoked weed. He tried to get me to smoke with him but it's just not for me. I've asked him to stop smoking but that only made him go behind my back. He's kind of got better but everytime his sister wants to smoke he does. I don't know how to get him to stop and I know the only way he will stop is to want to stop himself.
For most, if they don't get involved with other drugs before they quit causing more serious addictions etc, just "grow out" of smoking weed.
I found this to be the case with myself, as a young teenager, I would smoke daily, the older I became, the less interesting it was. By the time I hit 19 it was boring, and even irritating to be "high" so I gave it up, and never looked back.
You can't really change anyone or Force their behavior. I personally believe No one will quit doing anything that they do "smoking, cursing, etc" unless they Personally Want to quit. Standard rehab shows this from the fact that 80% or more usually relapse within 1 month of release.
I also quit smoking because I got tired of that as well, and didn't want to die of cancer. No drugs, no therapy, cold turkey.
Only thing you can do, is try to set limits like the one above mentioned (which he will probably either break or it will make him avoid being with you to get high), you can try to just cope with it, or you can try to find things he enjoys doing MORE than smoking weed, be it driving, skateboarding etc. Most weed smokers are usually bored, and become lethargic etc after smoking. Find outdoor physical activities you both enjoy, and try to do more of them together.
Last note, if he gets on "harder" drugs, hit the road. Most harder drugs lead to stealing and radical personality changes that you will do well to avoid,, trust me on that one.
what is the easy way to stop smoking?
hey, my friend was a chain smoker. tell me the easy way to stop his bad behaviour
Hi there !
After knowing that it is a "bad behaviour",
if you are continuing the habit, that shows the lack of motive for stopping it..
Follow these guidelines :
1. Make the firm decision to stop .
2. visit the post operative / recovery
section of a nearby "cardiac hospital"
or a "cancer hospital".
3. after the visit, dont buy the cigarettes.
best wishes !
who has used a stop smoking program called smoke deter?
I have not tried smoke deter personally but found this website that has a great review about it.
I have done research on Smoke Deter before. It certainly is an interesting idea, a very original way to try and stop smoking. I like the idea that it uses all natural ingredients. Can’t stand the idea of using dangerous chemicals and drugs to quit.
Will it work, I am very unsure. I believe that smoking is largely psychological. This aspect of smoking needs to be addressed before the physical addiction. If the psychological side of smoking is dealt with, quitting because more successful in the long term.
Good Luck and Good Quitting
